As a Project Manager on Huawei’s Technical Communication Innovation and Best Practices Team, Sally Martir interfaces directly with the customer to meet their information delivery requirements. Sally’s 19 years of experience providing modular task based information to customers has segued naturally in recent years to her interest and research of AR in information products. She was a major contributor in planning and hosting the team’s past two Huawei Documentation Think Tanks focused on AR and Mobile documentation. The think tanks bring some of the industry’s brightest innovators and thought leaders together to discuss trends, possibilities, and lessons learned. Sally is a member of the OASIS AR in Information Products Technical Committee where she co-leads the AR industry glossary sub-team. Sally is passionate about emerging technologies and how technical communicators can add value to the customer experience.

Augmented Reality in Technical Communication11:20 AM - 11:40 AM Jun 2Each day technicians are dispatched to perform complex processes for installation, configuration and maintenance of mission critical telecommunications equipment. In order to support customers in 140 countries, including 45 of the world’s 50 largest telecoms operators, Huawei technical documentation teams prepare, publish and support delivery of full digital instructions to technicians to ensure the complete and error-free performance of procedures. With partners, Huawei Technical Communication Innovation Department is developing processes to add Augmented Reality to product technical documentation in a consistent and robust manner. In this talk we will describe our project goals, approach and results of our research to date.
